Hello and welcome to the FIRST Rogue Symmetry newsletter!!
Since this is the very first newsletter, it will be tedious, drawn out, and full of wonderfully horrible jokes. Proceed...
Five turtles walk into a bar... ok, the jokes won't be that terrible.
Anyhow, as many of you know, I started Rogue Symmetry because I wanted to teach myself to draw while getting these quirky ideas off my chest. I feel that I have done a decent job of improving my art skills. I drew a lot as a kid but it was always just doodles around the outside of a homework assignment (the homework assignment was usually blank now that I think about it). So, starting in June of 2011, I decided to start learning a bit about how one is supposed to go about drawing. Now, I know I am not going to get a job on the next Disney cartoon, but I am very happy with where I am as far as the art goes. Here is an example of my progress:

So, you may not see it, but I do. Vast improvements with coloring, lettering, depth, and of course, circus animals.
About two months ago I said goodbye to pen and bristol board. Goodbye to erasers and H2 pencils. Goodbye to my scanner and printer. Then my wife told me to stop saying goodbye to inanimate objects. After I said one final goodbye under my breath so my wife couldn't hear it, I ordered a Wacom Intuos5! That is a tablet that allows me to draw all of my cartoons right into the computer. I can thank Dave Hussell and Drew Aquilina for recommending this product. I have found that I can draw what is in my head a lot easier with this tool and I am generally a lot happier with my final output. I even landed my first big league interview based on this tablet on the newly launched Sunny Street blog.
While I am on the subject of that aforementioned blog, lemme give a plug to my friend, Max of Sunny Street. I have been a fan of his work since I first started on Sherpa. Sunny Street was one of my very first Sherpan inspirations. It was one of the first toons that I would read in the morning and that holds true to this day. Max had the good sense to get together with Tame, of Nano-World fame, with plans of taking over the GoComics main page. Well, Gocomics had the good sense not to resist their push and they opened the doors to Sunny Street. I can not recommend the cartoon enough. Really, it is like Led Zeppelin of Go Comics. Or at least Vanilla Ice. Either way, read it and laugh.
So, now to the current Rogue Symmetry news:
The biggest news is that "Rogue Symmetry" will no longer be a name for just my comic. That name will now represent anything funny that falls out of my brains. This will not change my Sherpa presence one bit, but if you are a follower of my blog, Facebook page, or Tweets (links to those at bottom of email), you will notice that Rogue Symmetry is going to be cartoons, goofy stories, videos, songs, lyrics, shirts, stickers, poems, photos, and anything else that comes to my mind that I think will crack you up. I will start offering tshirts, stickers, and other products for reasonable prices on sites like eBay and Etsy, as well as through my blog. I have already sold several things on Zazzle, but I am not happy with the amount that I have to charge on that site. I mean, $26 for a shirt? Come on!
As for the blog, it has changed a lot in the last couple of weeks and I am getting happier with its appearance. I am in the process of adding pages to it which include my favorite Rogue Symmetry toons, links to cartoons I have sold, naked pictures of Tom Cruise. Oh wait, that's my other blog. Never mind. The big thing now is trying to update the archive to reflect gocomics. That is going to be time consuming and I wouldn't expect it any time soon.
Here is a rough that I may or may not develop into an actual cartoon in the future:
And finally, here are a couple places to see cartoons that I have sold:
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
